Sitting at 1850m, Val d'Isere is regarded by many to be one of the worlds best resorts for experts with extensive off piste and many world class runs. The resort dates back to the 1930's when a chairlift was opened up the Solaise. The resort has since expanded with 150km of piste. It is also joined with the purpose built resort of Tignes to form the Espace Killy, which provides a further 150km of top quality piste.

The area is mainly suited to intermediate to expert skiers and boarders with more than adequate facilities for begginners too. It also caters well  for powder addicts with expansive and accessible off piste available.

In the evening there is plenty to do with an array of good restaurants and bars. There is also numerous events held in the town throughout the winter. Having hosted Olympic events back in 1992, Val d'Isere is a venue for the World Alpine Ski Championships each year.

With the opening of a new motorway between Geneva and Annecy in 2009, the transfer from Geneva Airport to Val d'Isere can take as little as 2hrs 35min (dependent on traffic).
